A meditation on deep looking while considering how what is left behind leaves indelible marks and informs our future. Photographs made in late 2021 / early 2022 in a house lived in for over 50 years, recently vacated.
I became fascinated with the evidence of presence, history and legacy. Without any specifics, I was transported into an “other world”.
Over 2 days in 2021 another 300 images were made in a completely differnet vane - this was in a failed attempt to “finish the project”.
The project sat dormant until this image was selected in the Soho Photo Gallery Tabloid in April 2025 (mine is on the last page).
This inspired me to revisit the project and it will be my first solo exhibition at SPG in July 2025.
This project started with playful experimentation of taking studio portraits of balloons to see what could happen.
This early image was taken in July 2017.
Over a 6 days in October, 275 images were made. I looked at them, i had a name for them, i wanted them to be something yet they sat doment on my hard drive until a single copy of this book was created in 2020 on my home laser printer.
In July / August 2025, this project will be presented as my first solo exhibition at Soho Photo Gallery. 2 images from this set are in the show.
