Consecutives

Consecutives offers us the opportunity to consider how one thing always follows the next.

Being made with an Olympus PenF camera with the original gothic F, unique vertical viewfinder and a double-stroke film advance,  serial number 294255 - these diptychs (and longer runs) are all made in-camera, permenantly placed in sequence on a strip of light sensitive film.

This provokes a different mindset while photographing; it isn’t enough to concentrate only on the image at hand.  There are no “throw-away’s” for fear of ruining a sequence. What came before and what comes next always has to be considered, or not.

This project continues to inform - and is still very much in progress.

Supply the Rest

Fragmented interaction,  

Fleeting glimpses lost in time,  

Echoes linger still.

In "Supply the Rest," light bathes each frame, washing out details and leaving behind only the faintest pencil sketch of form and place. This high-key imagery invites you to fill in the blanks, to become a co-creator of the scene. Inspired by Koudelka's unambiguous and intentional compositions, the series captures the essence of being an outsider looking in—a fleeting glimpse that never quite connects. Each photograph becomes a canvas of vague familiarity, evoking a sense of alienation and longing, where the viewer is left to "supply the rest" with their own imagination and emotion.

This notion of "a fleeting glimpse that never quite connects" resonates deeply in the realm of human experience, where moments often slip through our fingers like grains of sand. In "Supply the Rest," each image serves as a metaphor for our fragmented interactions with the world around us; the blurred lines and washed-out details mirror the transient nature of our memories and relationships. The audience is invited to explore this canvas of vague familiarity, where echoes of past encounters linger but never fully reveal themselves. This ambiguity fosters a sense of nostalgia, prompting viewers to reflect on their own stories, experiences, and unfulfilled connections, ultimately transforming the act of viewing into a poignant exploration of longing and the desire for belonging.

My Instagram Grid - The End of How It Started

This is my instagram feed, which I started 196 posts ago back in 2020 with a picture of the Playland sign welcoming visitors to the pool, beach, boardwalk and amusement park in Rye. This coincided with the relaunch of this website and one of my first Galleries here - Reflections of Me: Playland.

The sign, like my desire to use instagram the way i was no longer exists. I may start to post more to promote contnet produced here on thnis webiste and promote exhibitions and other things. So for now, you can always enjoy this long scroll here.
